Sunday Funday

CIAO!

Today was another fun day! we had more down time than the past few days, but there is still so much to do. We started off the day at San Leonardo, a fish restaurant located on the hill. It was very scenic on the hill and one of the few places that we have seen with grass and parks and flats with yards! Its seems like a much different lifestyle on the hill, a bit more relaxing (as if Verona couldn't any more laid back). I'm not much of a fish fan, actually i'm a very picky eater in general but trying to step out of my comfort zone and become one with Italy, I tried lots of the fish dishes, almost all 5 courses of them. But the most bizarre had to be the appetizer, eyes and all:

don't forget the calamari…

To be honest, and predictable to those who know me, my favorite part of the meal was the dessert! We had brownies, flan, cakes, egg and cheese that was whipped (this tasted like pudding but much lighter) and of course coffee. The coffee came in the cutest heart shaped mug! This restaurant was the most unique yet.

After our three hour long lunch, we were put to a test. Claudio organized a scavenger hunt for us all over the city of Verona! It was fun running around and finding out cool facts about the city and fending for our foreign selves for the first time. The funniest experience was when were had to find out what was hanging above an arch. A man came up to us (who could only speak Italian) and wanted to help. After he explained the object about 3 times we finally started to catch on to his hand gestures and figured out that the object was a Whey bone and if you were married and wanted to have children, you walk through it three times for good luck with getting pregnant. It was cool how we were able to work through the language barrier and learn about the city at the same time. It also gave us, and the man a good laugh.

All our hard work paid off because we won second place in the scavenger hunt! Our prize was a gift card to a local café that is supposedly delicious. Can't wait to check it out.

The rest of the night was relaxing and i'm looking forward to our first day of class tomorrow!
